Concrete, exposed aggregate, pavers and stamped
Most driveways in this part of the world go green rather than dirty. Moss and algae take hold in the shade and along the control joints, and once they are established a garden hose will not move them. We pre-treat, run a flat surface cleaner over the whole pad so there are no wand stripes, then rinse the edges and the gutter line.

Vinyl, cedar, Hardie and stucco — soft wash only
Siding is soft-washed, never pressure-washed. High pressure forces water up behind the boards and into the wall, and on cedar it raises the grain permanently. We use a low-pressure application, let it dwell, and rinse. It takes longer and it is the only way to do it without leaving damage you will find in the winter.

Pressure-treated, cedar, composite and stone
Wood gets the lowest pressure that will actually lift the grey, worked along the grain. Composite gets a wash and nothing more aggressive, because the manufacturers will void a warranty over it. If you want the deck sealed afterwards we will do it, but not on the same day — it has to dry first, and that takes 48 hours.

Asphalt shingle and concrete tile
Roofs are treated, not blasted. Pressure strips the granules off asphalt shingles and takes years off the roof, which is why we apply a moss treatment and let the weather carry it off over the following weeks. Gutters are cleared out by hand, flushed, and the downpipes are checked to the ground.
