Fair Weather is two painters who have worked together since 2014. There is no third crew, no subcontractor, and nobody you have not met turning up at your door.

It means we can only do one house at a time, and it means the person who quoted your job is holding the brush. Those two things are the same fact.

Prep is the job

Painting is about a fifth of the time. The rest is moving, covering, filling, sanding and caulking, and it is entirely what separates a job that looks good for eight years from one that looks good for eight months.

If a quote is much cheaper than ours, that is where the difference went. It is not the paint and it is not the labour rate.

Why we only paint exteriors in summer

Paint needs a dry surface and a warm night to cure. On the West Coast that is May to September and no amount of wanting it done in October changes the chemistry. We will move your date rather than paint onto a wall that is still damp underneath, and we would rather lose the job than argue about it.

We are not tied to a brand

We take no kickbacks from any manufacturer, which means we can use the cheaper line in a rental hallway and the expensive one in a bathroom, and say honestly which is which.

Insurance and coverage

Commercial general liability insurance and WorkSafeBC registration. Ask us for the certificates and ask anyone else you are considering — painters work off ladders in other people's houses and a surprising number carry neither.
